Cardboard Cakes & Cookies

My little ones love pretend play! Rather than buying every toy under the sun, this is a simple DIY option that also makes use of any scrap cardboard.

Ages: 3+

You will need:

⋒ Scrap cardboard / packaging

⋒ Pencils / textas

⋒ Scissors

⋒ Acrylic paints

⋒ PVA glue

⋒ Decorating items - patty pans, straws, pom poms, scrap paper

  1. Draw & cut out some biscuit / cake / donut shapes from the cardboard. Bigger kids can design their own!

  2. Paint the shapes & leave to dry.

  3. While drying, organise your decorating items! Bigger kids can help snip straws into little pieces & patty pans intro strips to resemble sprinkles, chop chips & fruit.

  4. Using the PVA, let your little ones decorate their sweet treats!

  5. If you like, you can finish off with drizzles of brown paint “chocolate sauce” or maybe some red paint “raspberry jam.'“

Once they are dry, pop them on a tray, or cut a cardboard box down to resemble a baking pan & enjoy the sweet treat service!

Have fun!
