Naturally Coloured Playdough
This one is from @hellolunchlady blog - a massive inspo page in this house! For our natural colours we chose yellow, pink & purple (the girl’s faves).
Ages: 3+
• Yellow: Mix 1/2 tsp ground turmeric with 2 tbsp boiling water.
• Pink: Add 1 grated beetroot & 1/2 cup water to a saucepan. Simmer for 15 mins, cool then strain & keep liquid (picked ours from the garden!)
• Purple: Add 1 cup of frozen blueberries & 1/4 cup water to a saucepan. Simmer for 10 mins, cool then strain & keep liquid.
To make the play dough ~
You will need:
⋒ 2 cups plain flour
⋒ 2 tbsp vegetable oil
⋒ 1/2 cup salt
⋒ 2 tbsp cream of tartar
⋒ 1 1/3 cups boiling water
⋒ Food colour (or natural food dye)
1. Mix the flour, salt and cream of tartar in a mixing bowl.
2. Add your chosen natural colour, as well as the boiling water and veg oil.
3. Stir continuously until the mixture becomes sticky.
4. Allow it to cool and knead vigorously for a couple of minutes until the dough becomes smooth.
5. Store in an airtight container.
We are so grateful for our two girls & these simple pleasures at the moment. Hoping you can enjoy them too x
Have fun!
