Paper Plate Mushrooms 2.0

The paper plate / mushroom theme continues with another way to create some super cute fungi!

Ages: 5+

You will need:

⋒ Paper plates (3)

⋒ Watercolour paints

⋒ Scissors

⋒ White circle stickers

⋒ Kitchen roll / toilet rolls

⋒ Stapler

  1. Cut each paper plate in half.

  2. Paint one side of each plate (the side that sits up when lying flat).

  3. Once dry, add some spots using your stickers. Or simply draw them on!

  4. Staple the two halves of each mushroom cap together, leaving the bottom open.

  5. Snip your kitchen roll into 3 sections (or use tp rolls) & add a little door to 1 or 2 of them.

  6. Slide the roll stalks inside the mushroom caps, stand them up & admire your shroomy creations!

To create the muted, mushroomy colours we did a bit of colour mixing! Watercolours are great for this. Simply add a dash of the complement of any colour (directly across on the colour wheel) to tone down the brightness. For these colours we mixed green + red ( one more dominant than the other for each) & blue + orange.

Have fun!
