Naturally Dyed Eggs

I based this recipe off a @hellolunchlady one & it was great! I find so many sweet ideas in this mag - absolutely worth a read!

Ages 6+

You will need:
⋒ Eggs (whiter eggs will produce a brighter colour)
⋒ 4 cups of boiling water
⋒ 2 tbsp vinegar
⋒ 2 tbsp salt

And any of these dye options:
⋒ 2 cups red cabbage
⋒ 2 tbsp instant coffee
⋒ 2 tbsp turmeric powder
⋒ 1 cup dried black beans
⋒ 2 beetroots chopped
⋒ 2 cups white onion skins

1. Pop one of your selected dye ingredients in a pot with your water, vinegar & salt.
2. Bring to the boil, lower heat & simmer for half an hour. Add more water if ingredients aren’t covered.
3. Strain & leave to cool.
4. Lower your eggs into a bowl of cooled dye & leave to soak anywhere between 5mins - overnight. (We did overnight for a deeper colour. Rotate every now again to keep them even).
5. Scoop out & pat dry.
6. Suggested: blow the eggs out so you can keep them forever!

Have fun!
