Fishing Game
When I asked what item people feel they are throwing away the most many of you responded with - quite simply- boxes. This activity takes a humble parcel box & turns it into a game everyone can enjoy!
You will need:
⋒ Cardboard box (preferably with a lid for easy storage)
⋒ Scrap cardboard
⋒ Kitchen roll
⋒ Scissors
⋒ Paint
⋒ Glue gun
⋒ String
⋒ Small magnet
⋒ Paperclips
1. Paint the inside of your box ocean blue & leave to dry (totally optional).
2. Select fish colours, paint your scrap pieces of cardboard & leave to dry. You can also paint your kitchen roll (fishing rod).
3. Trace & cut out a fish shape on a blank piece of cardboard as your template.
4. Trace your fish shapes onto your painted cardboard. Trace two shapes for each side of the fish, flipping your template to ensure they line up once cut out (see highlight).
5. Cut out your fish shapes & glue gun together, creating sturdy fish painted on both sides.
6. Add eyes (we used eye stickers, available in the CREATE KITS).
7. Glue gun paperclip fins to each fish.
8. Attach string to your roll (rod & line) & glue gun the magnet to the end (hook).
You’re ready to fish!
Add further ocean decorations & creatures, such as an egg carton crab or octopus!
Make it educational! Add numbers to your fish to create a fun maths game, adding or multiplying each number that is caught!
Have fun!
