Egg Carton Ducks
Who’s read Ducks Away by Mem Fox? Or frequently recites the Five Little Ducks song? A coupla big hits over here. This little project takes a single egg carton & transforms it into a paddling of little ducklings ready to play along with!
You will need:
⋒ 1 large egg carton
⋒ Scissors
⋒ Glue
⋒ Paint (yellow, orange & blue)
⋒ Black pen
1. Snip the five central cones & the smaller outer pieces of the egg carton (see highlight).
2. Flatten each larger cone & snip a nice, clean edge.
3. Paint all large cones yellow (body) & smaller pieces orange (bill) and leave to dry.
4. Trim off the lid of your carton, paint blue (river) & leave to dry.
5. Glue each duck bill to a duck body & add some eyes using a black pen.
Your five little ducks are ready to swim! Use as finger puppets or figurines to act out the stories and songs.
I’m pretty proud of this idea! Utilising the whole of the carton to make the ducks feels very satisfying! 🦆
Have fun!
