Salt Dough

We set out to make some little gift tags to go with our Mother’s Day presents. They are weird & wonky, and not what I imagined. But she absolutely loved doing something so hands-on.

1. Preheat oven to 120 ° C. Mix 2 cups of flour with 1 cup of salt in a bowl.
2. Slowly mix in 1 cup of water.
3. Knead dough for 10 mins. We split ours into three balls and added a few drops of food colouring to each- a warning that it gets messy!
3. Leave to rest for 20 mins.
4. Form desired shapes, & pop on a lined baking tray.
5. Bake in the preheated oven until dry, around 2 hours.
6. Allow to cool.

We used cookie cutters to make some of our shapes.
Before they went in the oven we used an old set of letter stamps to decorate. As well as spoons, & I believe the filter from the coffee machine.
Alternatively, you can leave plain and use paints to decorate!

Have fun!
