Cardboard Ornaments
We have spent the last week or so working on some Chrissy ornaments. Nothing fancy. Just simple & resourceful fun using scrap cardboard. Check the Christmas highlight for more details!
You will need:
⋒ Cardboard (we used a mix of regular & corrugated scrap cardboard)
⋒ Acrylic paints
⋒ Scissors
⋒ Hole punch
⋒ PVA glue
⋒ String or hemp cord
⋒ Decorations - glitter, pipe cleaners, cellophane
1. Trace your shapes onto cardboard & cut them out.
2. Paint! (both sides looks best)
3. Add details. The fun part! Tip: Mix glitter & PVA glue & use an old paint brush to make application easy.
4. Once everything is dry, punch a hole in the top of your ornaments & thread some string for hanging.
We made a bauble, tree & candy cane. For the shapes;
• Bauble: Trace around masking or packing tape, both inner & outer circle, then cut out. Leave a little bump at the top to punch your hole.
• Tree: Cut out 3 triangles & assemble on top of each other to form a tree shape. Add 1 small rectangle for the trunk.
• Candy Cane: Draw & cut out a J shape.
We just used what we had on hand. It’s fun offering a few different options & seeing what the little mates choose.
Have fun!
